Attempts to detect virus-specific DNA in human tumors. II. Nucleic acid hybridizations with complementary RNA of human herpes group viruses.

چکیده
DNA derived from various human malignant and non-malignant tissues was hybridized with radioactive complementary R N A (cR N A ) synthetized in vitro with the aid of Ecoli-RNA-polymerase by using DNA of human herpes group viruses as templates. Epstein-Barr virus (EB V ) -specific c R NA annealed significantly with DNA from nasopharyngeal carcinoma biopsies as well as with DNA preparations from leukocytes, bone marrow, lymph node and spleen of some patients with infectious mononucleosis. No significant hybridization was observed with either herpes simplex type 2 or type I cRNA and DNA from ten cervical carcinoma biopsies. cRNA of human cytomegalovirus and varicellazoster virus did not hybridize with DNA from Kaposi’s sarcoma or DNA from heavily infiltrated spleens of patients with Hodgkin’s disease. These data do not exclude a role of these herpes viruses in the etiology of cervical carcinoma, Kaposi’s sarcoma and Hodgkin’s disease. They show, however, that such a relationship (if it exists) must differ quantitatively to a considerable extent from the one observed with EBV in EBV-associated tumors.

متن کاملEvaluation of Nucleic Acid Sequence Based Amplification (NASBA) and Reverse Transcription Polymerase Chain Reaction for Detection of Coxsackievirus B3 in Cell Culture and Animal Tissue Samples
Enteroviruses are the causative agents of a number of diseases in humans. Group B coxsackieviruses are believed to be the most common viral agents responsible for human heart disease. Genomic data of enteroviruses has allowed developing new molecular approaches such as Nucleic Acid Sequence Based Amplification (NASBA) for detection of such viruses. In this study, coxsackievirus B3 (CVB3) was de...
متن کاملA Review of the Classical and Molecular Diagnostic Methods of Herpes Simplex Virus
Human Herpes Viruses (HSV) contain eight pathogens. HSV is one of the most widespread viruses in the world and due to the simplicity of the way of transmission the number of people infected with the virus has increased in per year. The virus creates a wide range of diseases, including mucosal herpes infections and deadly herpes simplex encephalitis. Today, for the diagnosis of HSV infection se...
متن کاملAssociation between mycosis fungoides and human herpes virus 8: A case-control study
Background: Mycosis fungoides is the most common type of primary cutaneous T-cell lymphoma. Its etiopathogenesis, despite numerous studies, remains unclear. Environmental, viral, and genetic factors have been proposed as its potential etiologic factors. In recent years, viral agents of herpes virus family such as human herpes virus 8 (HHV-8) have been noticed. Objective: The aim of this study wa...
متن کاملDemonstration of Herpes Simplex Virus, Cytomegalovirus and Epstein-Barr Virus in Colorectal Cancer
Background: The present study sought to investigate molecular evidence for association between the presence of herpes simplex virus (HSV), cytomegalovirus (CMV), and Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) in CRC and colorectal polyp by using the PCR method in Iran. Methods: In this analytical case-control study, we selected 15 patients with CRC, 20 patients with colorectal polyp, and 35 patients without mali...
